Meet Nobile Attie

Nobile was born on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean in Latakia, Syria, on the outskirts of the ancient city of Ugarit (c.1800 BC). Nobile spent much of his childhood observing his grandfather, who built communal brick and adobe ovens in their village and in surrounding villages.

From Syria, Nobile settled in Italy where he gained his first oven building experience in 1979. In Sotto Marina di Chioggia (the South Beach of Venice, Italy), he began his first kitchen work under the seasoned and well known Chef Mario Carpi. Nobile convinced Chef Mario that he could reconstruct and revive his old, nonfunctioning brick oven. The rebuilt oven was a remarkable success and Nobile’s passion for oven building has grown ever since.

For over forty years, Nobile has been designing and building custom brick ovens for chefs and restaurateurs around the United States and abroad. He currently resides in Red Hook, New York (in the Hudson Valley) where he operates Lucoli Brick Oven, a small restaurant that also serves as a showroom for his latest rotary brick ovens.
